Plasmacytoma

a solitary plasma cell myeloma of bone. In comparison to multiple (plasma cell) myeloma, plasmacytoma is rare, affects younger patients, is commonly accompanied by neurologic manifestations, and can simulate giant cell tumour on radiological examination. Most frequent sites of involvement are the spine and pelvis. On radiographs either a multicystic and expansile lesion or a purely osteolytic focus without expansion is noted (Fig.1). Solitary plasmacytoma may appear as a radiodense vertebral body, the ivory vertebral body. Amyloid deposition may also occur.
