Peroneal spastic flatfoot
a foot deformity characterized by pain in the foot, limited subtalar motion,
pes planus deformity
, and shortening with
spasm
of the peroneal muscles often initiated by minor
trauma
or unusual activity. Frequently this deformity is associated with
tarsal coalition
, but a similar abnormality may also occur in connection with
juvenile chronic arthritis
,
tuberculosis
,
osteoarthritis
and
fracture
. The foot may be held in a valgus or varus position.
