1. Anatomya nerve that derives from the sciatic nerve and supplies the short head of the biceps femoris muscle, knee and other structures.
2. Pathology
An entrapment neuropathy may occur when the peroneal nerve becomes compressed as it winds around the neck of the fibula. Causes of entrapment include stretching or traction of the nerve, Bakers cysts, total knee replacement, tight casts, ganglion and a normal or abnormal fabella. Impaired dorsiflexion may lead to footdrop.
Common peroneal palsy may occur after trauma to the peroneal nerve.
