Musculoskeletal ImagingPanner's disease
(Hans Jessen Panner, 18711930, Danish radiologist), osteochondrosis of the capitulum of the humerus. Commonly the patient has a history of trauma. This disorder is also termed Little League elbow because of its frequency in young baseball pitchers. Affected patients may experience pain, stiffness, and restricted range of motion of the elbow. On radiographs, fissuring and increased density of the capitulum; decreased size, fragmentation and resorption are also present (Fig.1). Panner's disease is differentiated from osteochondritis dissecans of the elbow, which occurs in adolescents or adults after ossification of the capitulum has been completed.
