radiographic manifestation of
gout in which an elevated margin or lip of bone extends outward in soft tissues, apparently covering the gouty
tophus. The overhanging edge may result from bone resorption beneath the tophus with periosteal deposition of bone at the outer aspect of the involved cortex.
