Musculoskeletal ImagingOsteofibrous dysplasia
an
ossifying fibroma of the
tubular bones, which is closely related to
fibrous dysplasia. This disorder occurs almost exclusively in the tibia, although the fibula and other sites may also be involved in rare cases. The
lesion is usually located in the anterior aspect of the tibia. Slight or moderate anterior or anterolateral
bowing of bone may be accompanied by pathologic fractures. On radiographs a hazy or
ground glass appearance resembling that seen in fibrous dysplasia is common. A relationship between ossifying fibroma and
adamantinoma may possibly exist in young persons.
