various hereditary haemolytic processes other than thalassaemia, spherocytosis, elliptocytosis hereditary or haemoglobinopathy, of which the two most important forms are pyruvate kinase deficiency and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency anaemia. In pyruvate kinase deficiency, radiographic changes include osteoporosis, widening of the diploe, and thinning of the outer table of the cranial vault as a consequence of marrow hyperplasia.
