Neuroectodermal tumour

a malignant small cell tumour of the thoracopulmonary soft tissues in children, also termed an Askin tumour. The retroperitoneal and pelvic regions and the extremities may also be affected.

Another variety, termed primitive neuroectodermal tumour, (PNET) develops in bone and may be mistaken for Ewings sarcoma. Radiographic features include permeative bone destruction, periostitis, soft tissue mass and pathologic fracture. The long tubular bones, innominate bones and sacrum are involved most frequently.
