An example of a Malgaigne fracture is a vertical fracture of both pubic rami in association with a fracture of the ilium or sacrum or a dislocation of the sacroiliac joint; alternatively, dislocation of the symphysis with either dislocation of the sacroiliac joint or fracture of the sacrum or ilium may occur.
