Musculoskeletal ImagingLymphangioma
a
tumour composed of lymphoid vessels with
cystic spaces and sometimes foci of lymphoid tissue. For a general description, see
lymphangioma.
Usually lymphangiomas occur in skin or subcutaneous tissue, but they may also occur in bone, usually in children and adolescents. The tumour tends to be a multiloculated osteolytic lesion in the medullary portion of the tibia, humerus, ilium, skull, mandible, vertebrae or small bones of the hand. This condition may be part of a spectrum consisting of haemangioma, lymphangioma, cystic angiomatosis, haemangiomatosis and massive osteolysis (Gorhams disease).
