Musculoskeletal ImagingJuxtacortical chondrosarcoma
a peripheral chondrosarcoma arising from the periosteal membrane. Its
radiographic appearance is similar to that of periosteal
osteosarcoma. Usually a long
tubular bone is the site of the
tumour. On radiographs, radiating bone spicules, a
Codmans triangle and a small surface bone
lesion with spotty
calcification are observed.
Malignant transformation may be suggested by the presence of a bulky, irregular cartilaginous cap with scattered calcifications in the cartilaginous portion.
