Hemivertebra

a developmental anomaly in which half of a vertebra is incompletely formed. The involved segments may be hypoplastic or entirely absent; some hemivertebrae are supernumerary. Frequently spinal fusion or neural arch segmentation defects coexist.

Among the conditions in which hemivertebrae occur are Goldenhars syndrome, trisomy 8 syndrome, agenesis of part of a vertebra and Klippel Feil syndrome.
