Haversian system

the basic unit of structure in compact bone, consisting of a haversian canal and the concentrically arranged lamellae of bone surrounding the canal. These units are secondary osteons with parallel-fibred bone.

In osteomalacia, the haversian systems become irregular and develop large channels. Osteoid seams may line the haversian canals in the cortex.
