Fibromatosis colli

a benign, firm fibrous mass in the sternocleidomastoid muscle ( Fig.1). The nodule is usually seen in infants and disappears at 4 - 8 months. In some cases a torticollis may develop.

Axial CT scan after administration of contrast material in a five week-old girl demonstrates enlargement of the right sternocleidomastoid muscle. There is no contrast enhancement. This muscle enlargement gradually reduced over the ensuing months.
