Codman's triangle

(Ernest Codman, 1869 - 1940, American surgeon), a triangular elevation of the periosteum at the periphery of a neoplasm or focus of infection in bone. Usually the subperiosteal area is spared from tumour involvement. This lesion occurs mainly in the tubular bones and in cases of osteosarcoma.
