Campylobacter

a curved or spiral rod-shaped bacterium that inhabits the oral cavity, gastrointestinal tract and reproductive system. Infections with this organism may lead to osteomyelitis and reactive septic arthritis. A sterile arthritis also may occur after intestinal infections with Campylobacter organisms. Sterile arthritis can be associated with soft tissue swelling and joint effusions on radiographs.
