Normal AnatomyThyrocervical trunk
a short, wide vessel arising from the first part of the
subclavian artery near the medial border of the scalenus anterior muscle. It divides almost immediately into inferior
thyroid, suprascapular and superficial
cervical arteries. In about one third of individuals the suprascapular and superficial
cervical arteries arise as a common trunk from the
cervical trunk known as the
transverse cervical artery. See
