Mesenteric vein, superior

formed by the union of the segmental ileal and jejunal veins which accompany their respective arteries. Lies to the right side of the superior mesenteric artery in the mesentery near its root and receives tributaries from the ileocolic vein, colic veins and the gastrocolic trunk.
