Normal AnatomyAorta, abdominal
continuation of
thoracic aorta after it passes through the
diaphragm. The vessel descends on the left anterolateral aspect of the
spine and bifurcates at L4/L5 into the
common iliac arteries. It gives origin to the
lumbar arteries,
inferior phrenic artery,
middle suprarenal artery,
coeliac axis,
superior mesenteric artery,
renal artery,
gonadal artery,
inferior mesenteric artery and
median sacral artery. See
