MR techniques using rapid data acquisition. The term is used somewhat loosely and encompasses all forms of echo planar imaging EPI including the GRASE pulse sequence. "Ultrafast" gradient echo pulse sequences and the RARE pulse sequence are also frequently included in this category. Successful ultrafast imaging requires systems equipped with strong gradient fields and high slew rates.
