Quality

must be defined regarding a specific entity. In medical imaging quality is essentially equivalent to image quality, and it can be optimized by performing a routine quality assurance program. This program controls the quality of the particular equipment being used, for instance the X-ray generator linearity in radiography, the magnetic field homeogeneity in MR and the detector sensitivity in PET.
