Exposure timer

a device which is used to control the length of the exposure. There are two types of timers: 1) an electronic timer that stops the exposure after a given time, and 2) a circuit that measures the electric charge (mAs) released in the X-ray tube. The circuit will stop the exposure when the measured mAs is equal to that set at the X-ray control unit. See also automatic exposure control.
