Detector channel

the interconnected components which are required for the acquisition of sample measurements from a single detector element. In general, an X-ray detector channel consists of the detector element (such as a scintillation crystal coupled to a photodiode), a pre-amplifier and/or other stages of amplification and gain and offset control, an integrator or analogue filter, and an analogue to digital converter ADC . In most CT systems the total system cost is reduced by using multiplexers to connect several detector elements to a single ADC.
