Physics, Techniques and ProceduresCystography
radiographic examination of the urinary bladder by filling of the bladder with contrast medium. The examination is carried out under sterile conditions, usually via a bladder
catheter. Alternatively, the contrast medium may be introduced via a
suprapubic bladder puncture. With the patient supine, a water-soluble contrast medium, warmed to body temperature, is usually instillated under fluoroscopic control from a bottle elevated 1 m above the table. Examination of the bladder only may be performed on the suspicion of bladder rupture or fistulae. Most often, the bladder examination is part of
micturating cystourethrography.
