Projection

A picture of a patient or object, as depending on the angle at which it is taken. Typically an X-ray picture projects a 3-dimensional patient (height, breadth and thickness) onto a 2 dimensional film, flattening all the features in one direction. To locate a structure within the patient at least 2 different projections - at different angles, not necessarily 90o - are needed.
