MT

Magnetisation Transfer
Application of an off-resonance large saturation pulse, to saturate tissues containing large amounts of protein. Saturation of the 1H of the macromolecular content is passed by MT to the 1H in bulk water in these tissues, reducing the signal from these species in a following imaging pulse sequence, thus increasing contrast with non-macromolecular species (e.g. fluid). Pulse type, duration and frequency offset are controlled by User CVs. Used in DICOM annotation.
