Chiari malformation and hydromyelia
Clinical history
This 35-year-old female was referred for MRI with the clinical diagnosis of MS. First a series of sagittal T1-weighted images was acquired and immediately a different diagnosis became evident.
MRI
Images 1 - 4: Sagittal T1WI. The Chiari malformation is clearly demonstrated, as the low position of the tonsils is evident. In this case, the syrinx cavity ends at the T2-T3 level.
