Stage 1: Low magnification view of the operative field.

Stage 2: Dissection of the extramedullary portion of the tumor.

Stage 3: The feeding vessels are coagulated adjacent to the tumor.

Stage 4: Dissection of the nerve roots and separation of the intramedullary portion of the tumor.
