Tumours

Both CT and MRI can be used to evalute tumours. Sometimes ultrasound is useful, especially to detect focal abnormalities in salivary glands and lymphadenopathy.

MRI offers an advantage over CT due to its multiplanar possibilities, tissue characterisation potential and absense of artefacts from bone and teeth.

NM imaging is accurate in parathyroid adenoma localization. PET has a place in head and neck tumour diagnosis.
