Oropharyngeal cancer twelve years back

(surgery + radiation)

New tumor left jaw / neck. Worrisome for new primary or recurrence

There is a multinodular focus of activity adjacent to the angle of the left mandible corresponding to the surgical clips and associated soft tissue density. This has recently been biopsied and shown to be infectious in nature. The diffuse activity within the region would be more suggestive of inflammatory/infectious process. Recurrent malignancy would be less likely. Incidentally noted is an intense focus of activity within the right maxillary sinus. This corresponds to a mucocele and suggests that it is infected. There is mild degenerative-type uptake within the right sternoclavicular joint. Otherwise, there is physiologic FDG distribution.
