This is a 62-year-old female with a history of cardiac transplant on June 22, 2001, for nonischemic cardiomyopathy. She presented to the clinic in June of 2004 for annual studies. Her lab work was positive for toxoplasmosis IgM which was new. She had a left peripheral lung mass noted on chest x-ray which was new. She had had a CT at home which demonstrated multiple pulmonary nodules. She returned to Mayo for a PET scan and further workup of this mass. Also noted on her left wrist was an area that was draining purulent drainage. She reports injuring her left wrist last winter. Her local physician treated the left wrist injury initially with a sling. Her left wrist then developed a blister-type lesion which her physician aspirated. He placed her on antibiotics without improvement.
