Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma
Cervical and mediastinal adenopathy had responded very well to chemotherapy, but mesenteric adenopathy had developed in association with previously seen mesenteric root fat strandings.
FDG PET/CT: Increased FDG uptake in iIl defined stranding in the mesenteric fat with soft tissue nodules and associated mass in the root of the mesentery. The tissue including two mesenteric lymph nodes were biopsied through open surgery and proved to be fat necrosis. No evidence of resudual or recurrent disease on follow up after 1 1/2 year.
Teaching point:
Fat necrosis may show intense FDG uptake.
