Physiologic uptake in chewing muscles

M 61 Brain metastasis. Unknown primary.

The patient was chewing a bubblegum during injection and distribution of FDG.

Teaching point: If a patient is chewing during injection and distribution of FDG there may be physiologic increased uptake in the muscles that takes part in the chewing. As in this patient the uptake may be asymmetric.
