High cardiac and generalized muscle FDG uptake in non-fasting patient

18F-FDG PET
M 67
B-cell lymphoma. Recurrent disease? Radical cystoprostatectomy with orthotopic neobladder
High cardiac and generalized muscle uptake, likely caused by increased blood sugar / insulin. P-glucose=161 mg/dL (9.1 mmol/l).

Teaching points:
T1: Non-fasting patients with high blood glucose / insulin may show high, generalized muscle uptake
T2:After exercise, the specific muscles used will show physiologic increased uptake. Strenious excersise should be avoided for 24 hours before a FDG PET study.
