Inflammatory pseudotumor truly represents an enigmatic entity in form of a tumor-like lesion know with many synonyms according to the various authors who named it on the basis of its several different histomorphological appearances. Among these names plasma cell granuloma, xanthomatous pseudotumor, xanthoma, fibrous xanthoma, histiocytoma and xanthogranuloma are reported.
Inflammatory pseudotumors are considered as locally aggressive tumors, but are not associated with metastases. Local recurrence is frequent even if removed with adequate margins. Malignant transformation has never been observed.
