Dental radiologyIntroduction
Dental radiology has evolved from being concerned only with the teeth and their surrounding bone to include the entire oral and maxillofacial complex and associated structures of the head and neck. A profound knowledge of dentistry is essential for the oral and maxillofacial radiologist, since the pathological processes found within the jaws are commonly related to the dentition. In this chapter, examination and diagnosis of pathological conditions within the teeth and jaw bones will be discussed.
