Tubular

Relating to the tubuli in the kidney. The tubuli are long, thin, folded tubes in close contact with many thin blood vessels. Urine produced by glomerular filtration next passes through the tubuli, where excess excreted water, salts and other vital substances (e.g. proteins) are reabsorbed. Diseases of the tubuli may result in excessive loss of water, salts etc. Tubuli are sensitive to many drugs, incl. contrast media, particularly high-osmolarionic contrast media, which may damage tubular function.
