Lymphangiography

Special X-ray examination of the lymph vessels. A special type of contrast medium is injected directly into a lymph vessel e.g. on the back of the foot. Since lymph vessels are very thin, a strong blue colour is injected first to visualise lymph vessels close to the skin surface so that the radiologist will know where to inject the contrast medium.
