Gastro-oesophageal
Relating to the stomach and oesophagus (gullet), often used for a condition where stomach contents flow backward up into (part of) the gullet, causing heartburn and indigestion. This so-called gastro-oesophageal reflux typically presents when the patient lies down or exerts him-/her-self. If left untreated the condition may cause bleeding, scarring and sometimes even tumours.
