Coronary (artery)

The arteries that supply the heart muscle. In patients with angina one or more of the coronaries are narrowed, limiting the blood supply to (parts of) the heart. In myocardialinfarction a coronary or one of its main branches suddenly becomes completely blocked, so that the blood supply to that part of the heart is cut off. Both angina and infarction cause severe pain, and an infarction may be life threatening.
