Arthrography

Special X-ray examination of joints. Depending on the size of the joint cavity, a small volume of low concentration contrast medium is injected - sometimes also air - after which the images are taken. The joint most often examined by arthrography is the knee. Other joints may be anything from shoulders, jaws or even the small joints between each vertebrae.
