Technique for reducing SAR in by up to 60% FSE and FRFSE pulse sequences. By reducing the RF peak, SAR can be significantly reduced (the RF peak contributes most power deposition since SAR αB21 . Variable rate pulses are stretched to maintain the nominal flip angle, and reduced transmit bandwidth and reduced gradient amplitude maintain the same slice profile.
