PFOV
Phase Field-Of-View
Increasing the line spacing in k-space, whilst still scanning “as far out” in k-space. As a result, fewer lines are required to cover k-space data area (i.e. the resolution does not change). Since changing the line spacing in k-space changes FOV in real space, PFOV < 1 yields a reduced FOV in the phase encoding direction (a rectangular FOV results). Since fewer data are acquired, an SNR decrease also occurs.
